Away, Away, The Army Way

I had a dear follower and a close friend all in about a week let me know that they were here reading and I wasn't typing. Well, I have to apologize for that. Things have different since my Soldier left. Many new changes have occurred. My Dad whom I love so dearly moved back to Oregon ) = already… That has been another change that has been very difficult. I miss both the men in my life and now am facing all these changes completely alone.

Okay, so some say “You’re not completely alone, you have your friends, your kids, and your church family, right?” I would have to say you would be wrong. I am going through what you call short-termers. Something I thought people went through when they left a job, not their home location, WRONG! I have had so many emotions about leaving. I don’t feel like I belong here anymore and like I don’t fit. I miss my husband and want to be with him, where he is.

That is not going to happen any time soon either. Nope, they told him he leaves his AIT to move onto the duty base when he graduates from AIT to get housing and things like that figured out. Hello, don’t they realize I do the nesting? Why would he when he will always be training and leaving and I am the one who will be home? Did they forget that we have kids? They need to go to school! Nope, they are the ARMY! I love the Army don’t get me wrong. We love it! However, we want to be there with it. Right now we feel out in left field and without a home to call ours.

So you may ask “How are the kids handling all these changes?” They are just like me, a basket case! I watch them with their friends and see them disconnecting. We all are. It is hard to keep a bond going when they all are making plans about next year, heck even next month. Planting flowers, favorite camping spots, this winter, etc… We won’t be here, we will be wherever the Army may put us. We have heard rumors, but that might be all they are is rumors. Since I last wrote I did go and watch my soldiers amazing graduation enjoying family day and an off post pass. The off post pass didn’t go as we had would have liked though. I flew over 2,000 miles to get to South Carolina.

We enjoyed one another’s company while hanging around post mostly. We had two on post passes and one day of off post pass. It was nice! Graduation took place on 4th of July! What a day that was! It was so nice to see him all dressed up! Well I have written a novel catching up with everyone now. Enjoy the photos and I hope to not be gone so long this time!
